Symantec Endpoint Protection Unblock Program

It is possible that the firewall blocks some traffic. Therefore you've to go to the Firewall policy in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager. In this policy you can allow/disallow programs and specific traffic. By default programs are disallowed to upload files or to generate traffic over the NIC.

In the Firewall policy you create a rule which points to the executable. In this rule you allow the program to generate traffic over the specific port (in this case I assume port 80). When you save the FW policy it will be automatically communicated to the client. Quickbooks enterprise 12 r5.

Well, I cannot find 'Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager'. I did a computer search for that nameand I looked in the Symantec program folder and found nothing that looked like that. By double-clicking the SEP tray icon and looking through all the settings I don't find that name. I did find 'Centralized Exceptions'. Is this where the FireWall Policy is?

If that is the right place, I don't understand the differences between the choices there; Two tabs- 'Administrator Defined Exceptions' and 'User Defined Exceptions' with options 'Security Risk Exceptions' (with sub-selections of 'Know Risks', 'File', 'Folder','Extensions') and 'TruScan Proactive Threat Scan Exception'. I am signed on in Windows as an Administrator but all the buttons under the 'Administrator Defined Exceptions' are grayed-out.

OK.clear to me. A stand alone installation without a parent server. That's great. Because some admin's decide that end-users are not allowed to make any changed to the configuration.

This is called server side security. The server decides what is allowed and what not. Locally you can add changes to the antivirus client. When you go to the options f the Network Threat Protection you can specify that only applications have access to the network (mark the check box to prompt before access).

Apr 16, 2014 Hi, Thanks for posting your issue in the forum. Based on your description, I suspect that maybe Software Restriction Policy has been configured in the domain.

You can add separate rules when you click on options (Network Protection) on the status tab. You can select configure firewall rules. Here you can add separate rules for applications, specific ports, specific protocols, anything you want. The centralized exceptions policy are exclusions for antivirus. You can add.pst to the centralized exceptions to prevent that pst files aill be scanned by antivirus.

This improves performance. Suc6 with it.
